Ohana with a Fold on His Nose
Do you remember the story of Koska the rabbit? Do you remember how, in Disneyland Paris, he protected his buddy when the boy suddenly fell ill with a high temperature, and Mum had that clueless dialogue with the French fire brigade? That situation was anecdotal, yet so real.
But this Disney story has a continuation, one that became a true anchor for the Family.
If you happen to have missed the movie “Lilo & Stitch,” make sure to watch it with your children. For our Home, this film became an important, almost allegorical symbol, even though the Family has never been to Hawaii. It was from there, from the story of a lonely girl and a strange alien experiment, that a short Hawaiian word entered our Home — “Ohana.”
“Ohana” means “family,” and family means nobody gets left behind, nobody is abandoned in trouble, and nobody is forgotten. This word instantly became the Home’s invisible amulet. Mum and the Elder Son would often gently rub noses and quietly say to each other: “Ohana.”
Those French vacations were long, and Koska, as always, faithfully accompanied his Little Human. Everyone knows that Disney releases tons of toys for every movie, and usually, there is a pure commercial calculation behind it. But there are rare, exceptional cases when stamped plush acquires a different, higher value. Our case is exactly like that❤️.

Among the countless numbers of identical blue aliens in the Disneyland shops, the Elder Son — Koska’s buddy — suddenly froze in front of one single Stitch in a t-shirt that read “Love me!”. From hundreds of otherwise identical toys, he was distinguished by one tiny but decisive flaw — a noticeable, stubborn fold on his nose. The ten-year-old Son, who had already outgrown the age of impulsive childhood whims, for the first time in his life consciously and insistently asked Dad to buy him this exact alien. The parents were a little surprised, but they bought the Stitch. And at that exact second, this blue cosmic rascal heard the heartbeat of his Human, who pressed him tightly to his chest.
The Younger Son was only three years old then, and not wanting to lag behind his brother, tightly gripped another Stitch in his hands — a smaller caliber one 🤗.
Thus, the number of souls in the Family increased, and the space in our palms decreased. The Elder Son solemnly introduced the new blue resident to Koska the rabbit and officially declared them friends, while the Younger Son introduced his little alien to everyone. Koska got his own gang, and that is important for everyone, even if you are made of plush.
Then life went on its swift course: school, new roads, growing up. Of course, other toys lived at Home, but on long journeys with the Family, only this inseparable plush gang always set off: Koska, Big Stitch, and Little Stitch. Returning, they must have eagerly told the other relatives in the library stories about warm countries, endless seas, and amazing people. But the main conclusion of their tales was always the same: the most beautiful thing about any journey is returning home. Thanks to the short password “Ohana,” which became their shared shield, no one ever got lost on the roads again.
Children grow up, but not everyone, upon growing up, betrays their plush friends. We remember that the matured Elder Son flew away to study across the ocean and took Koska with him. But when it was decided at the family council that it was time for Koska to protect his tail, ears, and paws in the quiet lavender room of the Home, the rabbit officially handed over his frontline duties to Stitch.
And Stitch with the fold on his nose did not disappoint. He faithfully fulfilled all maternal instructions on the other side of the world. He managed: he guarded sleep, faithfully waited on the pillow, and was a true looking-glass sentinel. Sometimes he even made trips to the Pacific Ocean — to air his ears, be in his native island element, and recharge with the energy of the storm. Of course, wise old Koska had also seen many seas in his life and knew the Pacific first-hand, but for Stitch, these trips were a special way to gather cosmic strength.
He carries out his faithful watch even now, sitting on the bedside table in distant America. And like a true sailor, he knows perfectly well that the military expression “standing on the nightstand” means carrying out the most important, permanent internal watch.
The short word “Ohana” has taken root in the heart of our Family forever, and the blue Disney aliens have become its living embodiment. That is why their number in the House only grew over time — because Ohana has no boundaries ❤️.
“Ohana” to everyone who has read this story. You are now part of our Home too.
